Personal Security II - Outside of the Home
Range Exercises


PS II Outside of the Home - Phase II

The student must show the completion certificate from the PS II - OTH Phase I to progress to the Phase II range exercises.  The range exercises will be conducted on the second day of the PS II Outside class.  Progression through the range exercises is based on demonstrated mastery of each individual skill.  Each exercise requires that every student demonstrate mastery of the exercise before the class will proceed to the next exercise. 

Accuracy counts!  When performing the following range exercises, the student must hit the target in the specified area to successfully complete each exercise.

The individual exercises are listed below:

Range Lesson I: Presenting the Pistol from Concealment
Length:   1.5 hours.
Learning objectives:

As a result of participation in this lesson, students should be able to:
  1. Explain and demonstrate the technique for safely presenting a concealed pistol and re-holstering.

Range Lesson II: Presentation, Position, and Movement
Length:   2 hours.
Learning objectives:

As a result of participation in this lesson, students should be able to:
  1. Present a concealed pistol and shoot targets in the center of mass:
    • After moving to a high barricade.
    • Engaging two targets.
    • Using aimed fire technique with the strong hand only.
    • Using point shooting technique with two hands.
    • Using point shooting technique with the strong hand only.

Range Lesson III: Special Shooting Techniques
Length: 5 hours.
Learning objectives:

As a result of participation in this lesson, students should be able to:
  1. Present a concealed pistol, conduct speed reloading, clear stoppages of their pistols and shoot targets in the center of mass:
    1. Using hip shooting techniques with the strong hand only ("speed rock").
    2. Moving rearward, stopping and shooting.
    3. From standing to kneeling behind a low barricade.
    4. From standing to squatting behind a low barricade.
    5. Moving to a low barricade, then kneeling or squatting.
    6. From sitting to standing.
    7. From standing, turning left 90 degrees to the target.
    8. From standing, turning right 90 degrees to the target.
    9. From standing, turning left 180 degrees to the target.
    10. From standing, turning right 180 degrees to the target.
    11. Engaging a target at extended range.
    12. Under low light conditions. (Dark Sunglasses - Provided)
