NRA MARKSMANSHIP QUALIFICATION PROGRAM
NRA Marksmanship shoots at Shooters World are at 10:00 a.m. on alternating Fridays and alternating Fridays. You must meet in the parking lot at 9:30 to pick up your target packets and when the doors open at 10:00 proceed to the shooting bay. The shooting bay will be staffed as usual with VSS Instructors.

Assuring Your Insurance Coverage While Shooting with the Club:
All Villages Straight Shooters Club members at all Club Shooting Activities are protected by our club's Insurance Policy. Therefore, you must arrive at any Club Shooting Activity with proof of your membership.
It is now required to have your up-to-date Membership ID Name Tag at all shooting activities. Membership ID Name Tags show your expiration date.
If you have recently joined or recently renewed your membership and are waiting for your name tag to be mailed to you, you must bring a printed copy of your email membership confirmation or show the confirmation email from your cell phone.

The entire NRA Marksmanship Program must be shot at the scheduled dates at Shooters World. This includes all Defensive Pistol 1, Pro-Marksman through the Distinguished Expert level. The Straight Shooters Club is liable ($20) to Shooters World for unoccupied lanes. Therefore, the refundable fee of $20 will be assessed at signup. The $20 will be refunded, by the Shoot Manager, to those who attend.
Shooters World Members will pay no range fee at check-in. Non Shooters World members will pay the then standard range fee.

Below is how NRA Marksmanship Shooting Activities at Shooters World will work:
- VSS will reserve a bay with ten lanes for each shooting activity.
- VSS members will check in at the Shooters World counter to have their Shooters World ID Card scanned or to pay the $20 range fee if the VSS member is not a Shooters World member.
- VSS will pay Shooters World $20 for each vacant lane.
- VSS members will pay VSS $20 to make reservations for shooting activities at Shooters World.
- All VSS members, with reservations, who show up and participate, will be refunded the $20 in cash by the VSS shoot manager.
- If a VSS member does not show up, the $20 to be refunded to the VSS member, will, instead, be used to pay Shooters World for the empty lane.
- Terms for Activity Reservation Cancellations are below:
“Members may cancel activities themselves, and receive refunds when the activity is a week or more in the future. Alternatively, the member may request assistance by emailing the club at reservations. [email protected]. Members must request cancellations and refunds by email if the activity date is within a week. In those cases, refunds will issue if the club can backfill the cancellation with another member.”
The NRA Marksmanship Qualification program is offered by the Villages Straight Shooters club for the benefit of its members.

Member Disciplines and Skill Levels Achieved

This program is offered by the Village Straight Shooters Club for the benefit of its members. This is a skills development program used as a guideline to train new shooters and provide an opportunity for experienced shooters to improve their skills. Progression is self-paced and is based on the honor system. The qualification courses of fire are designed to take one from the beginner’s level, Pro-Marksman, to that of Distinguished Expert and shall be shot in the proper sequence. Any caliber handgun may be used however the .22 caliber is the most common.
Qualification shooting may be conducted anywhere, either at a public or private range.
If you are a beginning shooter it is strongly recommended that you attend the Basic Pistol Class or attend a club Instructional shoot prior to starting the NRA Qualification Program
The policy regarding The Village Straight Shooters administration of the program is as follows:
You must enroll in the program and pay the $20 registration fee.
Note: Pro-marksman through Distinguished Expert must be accomplished at Shooter’s World during a VSSC sponsored shoot.
You must sign up for these sessions via the club website, as space is limited.
Your accomplishments will then be posted to the club website and at a club meeting and you may then pick up your award packet at a club meeting

IMPROVE YOUR MARKSMANSHIP
A SELF-PACED PROGRAM TO ACHIEVE LEVELS OF MARKSMANSHIP The Qualification Program Whether you have just purchased your first pistol, or are a seasoned shooter, the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program has something for everyone. The NRA Basic Pistol and Defensive Pistol Qualification Courses provide the perfect self-paced shooting activity to help develop your skills, receive rewards for your achievements, and have tons of fun. In summary, participants will be able to earn Discipline Patches, rockers, pins, and certificates of achievement for completing established set courses of fire for each rating within a specific discipline. You will be able to work your way up from Pro-Marksman to Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, and even to Distinguished Expert. Upon completing a Discipline Skill Rating you will be presented with the certificate of achievement at a Membership Meeting and your name will be posted on the VSSC website. So come on, accept the challenge see how far you can progress and how much you can improve your shooting skills. The target utilized in the program is the AP-2 (15 ft). The target will be provided by the club for club participants. There is an AP-2 target is available as a PDF file, but when printed, it does not match the NRA standard AP-2 target dimensions. While the rings are somewhat smaller and the tombstone is considerably smaller (i.e., the 5 point area) it may be used for practice. Rules of Participation Participants will be required to pay $20.00 to enroll in the program. This will pay for targets, the Pistol Discipline patch, the pins, rockers, and certificates of achievement for the first three skill levels, Pro-Marksman through Sharpshooter. The Certificates, pins, and rockers for the Expert skill level will cost the participant $6.00 each. The Distinguished Expert Certificate, pin and rocker will cost the participant $20.00 These payments must be made prior to the awarding of the Certificates. Participants' are responsible for paying for ammunition and range fees. Refer to the NRA booklet, posted on the VSSC website, for rating requirements. Upon successfully completing the Rating Requirements for a specific Skill Level, the participant shall be awarded the appropriate Skill level rocker, pin, and certificate of achievement. The participant shall also have his/her name posted on the VSSC web site. Shooting on Your Own Participating in the VSSC sponsored NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program is voluntary. You may desire to enter the Winchester/NRA Program on your own, purchase your own patches, rocker, pins, and certificates and shoot on your own. If you do so the only witness requirements are at the Distinguished Expert level. However only those who participate in the VSSC sponsored program will receive VSSC recognition. |
